Surfing has a small but dedicated following in Trinidad. The best beaches for surfing are along the north coast and northeast coast with the small village of Sans Souci being considered the best location for surfing.

Many of the villagers in San Souci are avid surfers and there are several bed and breakfast establishments that cater to surfers. Most surfing activity in Trinidad takes place on the weekend as the distance to the north coast and northeast coast beaches do not allow people to drive to these beaches after work in the week. Of course if one is on holiday then you can surf on any day of the week that you like.

For persons wanting to learn to surf there are organisations that provide surfing lessons and also provide surfing packages for individuals wanting a surfing holiday.

One of the aspects of Trinidad surfing is that the beaches used by surfers are usually different from the beaches used by Windsurfers and Kite Surfers so there is no competition for space by the different types of surfers.
